This interview details Greenlux Lighting Solutions, an advanced LED lighting solutions company based in Finland. The interview is with Kari Kylä-Kaila, COO of Greenlux Lighting Solutions.
Greenlux Lighting Solutions was established in 2007 to fulfill the market need for advanced LED solutions for general lighting. The company was founded with a vision to merge technologies and innovations to the lighting solutions. On the other hand, recognizing the increasing demand for well-researched horticultural LED solutions to optimize plant growth and yield, Valoya was founded in 2009.
A strategic merger took place in early 2023 between Valoya and Greenlux for a synergistic collaboration that brings together the strengths, expertise, and innovation of both entities.
As a lighting company, energy, and cost efficiency in all our products is key for us. We strive to make all our product portfolio to be efficient and sustainable to our customers.
The horticulture industry has seen its ups and. For instance, vertical farming was seen as an emerging and attractive market in Europe, and we have now seen that many companies closing down its operations as it was not as easy and efficient as they predicted it to be. These uncertainties in industry and the resources and ability to survive these uncertainties are the biggest challenge.
Another biggest challenge for all the companies would be the changing circumstances in the world, it is difficult to predict the supply chain and materials costs. In addition, a positive challenge is the advanced technologies that the company needs to adapt.
Greenlux Lighting Solutions offers a portfolio for both the general and horticultural market with advanced light planning. In addition, our products are designed and manufactured in our in-house production facility in Finland. This helps us to carefully manage our production and reduce our carbon footprint.
Valoya is known as research driven horticultural LED lighting solutions provider. With extensive knowledge and research, Valoya has more than 100 patents and a spectra portfolio which is well trusted and valued amongst the horticultural industry. With 600+ plant trials on 300+ plant species, Valoya is the knowledge leader of the industry.
We are the knowledge leader in the industry with projects in over 50+ countries and a diverse team in more than 8+ countries. As a company, we believe in expanding our horizon, thus a relevant metric for us is the number of projects and support we can provide to various parts of the world. The consistency in the quality and innovation within our products and projects is also a relevant metric for us. Continuing the legacy of the well-researched brand and the Nordic touch in all the products is another crucial factor for Greenlux.
In 2024, Greenlux Lighting Solutions R&D focus will be on crop production and developing more advanced products for general lighting. Our recent acquisition of eAge electronics PVT. Ltd. in India is a testimonial for our vision to expand further into various parts of the world.
